North Ayrshire Council approves Stevenson flats plan
North Ayrshire Council has approved plans to convert a former mental health drop-in centre in Stevenston into flats.
Planning permission has been approved for a change of use and conversion to six apartments for private rental at the 21 Station Road site.
The building, which is a two-storey converted villa, was previously used by mental health charity SAMH, formerly known as ‘Health in Mind’.
Broomfield Properties, which owns the building, revealed that the development will comprise of four one-bedroom and three two-bedroom flats.
An attic conversion with a rear dormer will also form part of the project, The Daily Record reports.
External works proposed in the plans include roof lights, new windows and the removal of external roller shutters.
The plans received no objections. Initial concerns from road chiefs about lack of parking were addressed by the applicant who has confirmed that eight off-street spaces could be provided.
