Orion, the developer of Lucent – a 90,000 sq.ft. ‘Grade A’ smart enabled office development in Glasgow city centre – has launched an appeal for essential items for the charity Glasgow’s Number 1 Baby & Family Support Service (GNO1B).

The appeal has the support of STV presenter Emma Cameron, Tim Jacobsen, Ryden and Colin Mackenzie, Knight Frank who are urging the Glasgow property community and wider businesses to get behind it.

GNO1B was founded in 2017, by Audrey Dempsey, operating from a dedicated unit in Forge Street, Glasgow where it runs a Support and Care Hub for families in crisis and living in working poverty to get lives back on track. The charity also helps with anything from furnishing a home to supplying essential toiletries, clothing for a job interview, a school prom or a family gathering.

Commenting on the launch of the appeal on behalf of Orion European Real Estate Fund V, Richard Low of Orion Capital Managers said: “Our investment in Lucent goes beyond bricks and mortar, to build trust and relationships with the communities around us. I am pleased to announce our partnership and support for GNO1B”.

Founder of GNO1B, Audrey Dempsey, said: “As well as essential toiletry items we welcome help from volunteers and donations of other items. These include nearly new clothing in good condition for teenagers particularly boys up to age 17, as well as furniture and household items for women fleeing abuse and starting afresh in a new home. Thank you to everyone involved. Your donation and support makes a difference to families facing crisis and living in working poverty.”

The appeal has the support of STV news presenter Emma Cameron who attended the launch. Emma Cameron commented: “GNO1B are a hugely important charity helping those in our city most in need. If you can donate anything you can, it would be greatly appreciated.
