Over 140 attend Clark Contracts 8th annual careers evening
Over 140 people interested in a traineeship or apprenticeship in the construction industry attended Clark Contracts 8th annual careers evening at its Head Office in Paisley.
The event, held as part of Scottish Apprenticeship Week, took place on Tuesday 5th March and attracted over 140 attendees who had the opportunity to meet the company’s recruitment team and current employees to find out more about careers at Clark Contracts and within the industry.
The contractor’s recruitment and HR manager, delivered presentations throughout the evening on the company’s Academy and apprenticeship opportunities, demonstrating numerous examples of staff members who started as apprentices and have progressed into management roles within the company.
Attendees had the opportunity to meet with a range of Clark Contracts’ staff, including site managers, quantity surveyors, contracts managers, estimators and apprentices who have progressed through the Academy themselves. Skills Development Scotland, Invest in Renfrewshire and modern apprenticeship provider, Microcom were also in attendance to provide advice and support to attendees.
Gordon Cunningham, managing director, Clark Contracts, said: “We are delighted that so many skilled, talented and enthusiastic people, joined us for our 8th Annual Careers Evening. We are working hard to close the skills gap in the construction industry, having recruited over 200 trainees and apprentices in to the business over the last 10 years, and are looking forward to welcoming this year’s recruits into our Academy.”
Clark Contracts is committed to ensuring new talent is recruited into the industry and currently has over 36 trainees and apprentices within their Academy in a range of roles including, site management, quantity surveying, finance, buying, marketing, estimating and trade apprentices. The contractor annually invests £750k into training and is dedicated to the continued development of employees, with many having progressed from trainee and apprentice positions to senior management roles within the business.
Clark Contracts will be holding a further Careers Evening in Edinburgh on the 27th of March 2024, with further details shared on their website and social media this week. The contractor’s annual trainee and apprenticeship recruitment will then be launched in April 2024, following this event.
