The extensive works are underway at the Holyrood Hotel and the Mount Royal Hotel, which are both high-profile, busy stopovers for visitors to the capital.

At the Holyrood – on Holyrood Road, near the Scottish Parliament – 158 guest bedrooms will be refurbished for clients Gateway Hotels, including associated corridors, flooring, decoration, furniture and bathroom upgrades.

The project also comprises an extensive renovation of the hotel’s public areas, including the reception, lobby bar, lounges and restaurants.

On world-famous Princes Street, the Mount Royal (previously called the Mercure Edinburgh) will see 156 guest bedrooms being refurbished, together with associated corridors, flooring, decoration, furniture and bathroom upgrades. Both projects incorporate extensive manufactured joinery, which will be fabricated and delivered by Pacific’s highly skilled in-house workshop team.

The hotel upgrades come on top of other commissions this year across the travel, hospitality and retail sectors. They include two successful completions for international food and drink outlet operators SSP – the Bridge & Castle at Edinburgh International Airport and The Spinning Jenny at Glasgow International Airport.

Also at Edinburgh, Pacific delivered the new World Duty Free Express store. This past year has also seen the company hand over a second project for cosmetic surgery specialists Cosmedicare at St Ellen’s Hospital in Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow, having earlier delivered their new clinic in Livingston.

Finally, Pacific has continued its longstanding and successful association with McDonald’s, with the delivery of an all-new restaurant at Broadwood Farm in Cumbernauld and the refurbishment of the previously existing Coatbridge outlet.

It will shortly commence work on another new build restaurant in Motherwell as well as refurbishing another Lanarkshire restaurant in Hamilton.

The company has in the past delivered successful refurbishment programmes at other tourist beacon hotels, including world-renowned Gleneagles in Perthshire, the imposing Waldorf Astoria, Edinburgh – The Caledonian, The Rusacks Hotel in St Andrews and the Marine Hotel in North Berwick.

Pacific’s environmentally sustainable bespoke joinery facility, which plays a key role in many of their projects, has provided jobs for six new staff and features all-new machinery, tooling and other equipment, and it covers an area three times the size of the workshop they formerly used at their main base in Hillington, on the outskirts of Glasgow.

A six-figure investment by Pacific Building – whose clients include McDonald’s restaurants, pub and restaurant chain Mitchells & Butlers, JD Wetherspoon and Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Manchester International Airports – the workshop gives the company the ability to manufacture superior quality specialist pieces to meet increasing demand from the hospitality, retail and travel sectors.
