Part-demolition of Edinburgh offices could make way for 428 student flats
Two Edinburgh buildings are to be partly demolished for a new development of student flats and offices under newly lodged plans.

Hamcap (Pentland Gait) Limited plans the partial demolition of the existing office pavilions of Heriot House and Currie House and the redevelopment of the site as a mixed-use development including the purpose-built student accommodation and office floorspace at 595 and 597 Calder Road.
The proposals for the student development that includes 384 cluster bedrooms and 44 studios have been put forward for consultation by Scott Hobbs Planning on behalf of the site owners.
The description on the application reads: “Proposed partial demolition of the existing office pavilions (Herriot House and Currie House) and redevelopment of site as mixed-use development including purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) and office floorspace (Class 4).”
