The expansion will see the Highland-based construction materials and services provider complement and increase its existing civil engineering capabilities, with this new department focusing on larger scale projects having traditionally focused on contracts of sub £1.5 million in the civil engineering sector.

It follows the decision of Morrison Infrastructure’s parent company Galliford Try to withdraw the business from Scotland – ultimately resulting in an anticipated 250 Scottish job losses.

Pat Munro expects additional recruitment to take place over the next quarter / half year.

Speaking of the expansion, Pat Munro’s managing director, Brian Munro, said: “We are excited to have increased our capabilities and service offering to the civil engineering sector within the Highlands. We were saddened to learn of Galliford Try’s decision to shut down Morrison Infrastructure – particularly in our area – and were aware of the capabilities of their Inverness Unit.

“We are delighted to have been able to secure the services of the majority of their management team, have been encouraged by their enthusiasm to our approach, and are pleased to bring their roles back under the management of a local, Highland business.”

In order to accommodate this increase in staffing, Pat Munro will shortly be opening an office in Inverness which will also allow the firm to explore an expansion of its traditional geographical work area into Moray, building upon its recently established concrete batching plant on the outskirts of Elgin.

This addition continues the organic growth that Pat Munro has experienced in recent years, together with some strategic additions, most recently sustainable, off-site building manufacturer Carbon Dynamic at the end of 2018.
