Paul McDevitt to co-ordinate Scottish Construction Summit
Scottish Construction Now is pleased to announce that well-known construction consultant Paul McDevitt has been appointed to co-ordinate the programme for our upcoming Scottish Construction Summit to take place at the University of Strathclyde’s Technology and Innovation Centre in Glasgow on 17th September 2025.
Paul has thirty years’ experience in the construction sector working in senior roles with regional and national contractors as well as operating at board level.
As a consultant, he has worked with 300 businesses across the UK construction sector, ranging from micro-enterprises to large corporations. With his unique insight into the industry, Paul helps business leaders inspire their teams, improve productivity, and increase profitability.
Since 2022, he has mentored numerous business leaders, assisting them in turning around and growing their businesses. His expertise extends to bid management, having helped clients secure over £2 billion worth of construction projects.
Scottish Construction Now editor Kieran Findlay said: “We are delighted to have Paul McDevitt on board to help build our Scottish Construction Summit into an unmissable event. We have already received a very encouraging response and a high level of enquiries. Paul has the skill set, knowledge and contacts to bring together a top quality range of speakers and experts to help chart the way forward for the Scottish construction sector.”
Paul, who joined the board of Home Fix Scotland in 2019, where he contributes his specialist knowledge in business strategy, change management, collaboration, and leadership development, added: “I’m thrilled to collaborate with SCN to drive this transformative construction initiative forward.
“In today’s challenging economic landscape, the construction industry is grappling with profound hurdles that demand urgent attention. The current business model is faltering—margins are razor-thin, profitability is elusive for many, and risk allocation disproportionately burdens those least equipped to handle it.
“Add to this the escalating pressures of recruitment and retention issues, material cost inflation, and the dual challenges of achieving net zero targets and embracing digital transformation — it’s a near-perfect storm. The Summit will serve as a vital platform, uniting industry leaders and innovators to exchange groundbreaking ideas and actionable strategies. Together, we aim to reimagine the future of construction, tackling these systemic challenges head-on and unlocking the industry’s full potential.”
Scottish Construction Now advertising manager Raymond Carr said: “Since announcing the summit last week, I’ve had an excellent response from potential exhibitors and sponsors keen to explore available opportunities.”
