Volunteers from the Crieff at Christmas group are celebrating after being announced as one of Persimmon North Scotland’s Community Champions.

The homebuilder’s Community Champions scheme supports charities and good causes in areas where they operate and has seen more than £350,000 donated across Scotland in the last five years.

The Crieff at Christmas group is made up of volunteers and organises the annual Christmas lights display which ensures the town shines brightly throughout the festive period. The volunteers hold a range of fundraising events throughout the year, from farmers’ markets to bingo and race nights in the area.

The donation will be used to replace the town’s older light displays with new LED lighting that will ensure the displays are sustainable for years to come.

James MacKay, Persimmon North Scotland managing director, said: “The Crieff at Christmas group does a fantastic job of creating a festive atmosphere in the town and their displays are always popular with local residents.

“I’m delighted we’re able to support them with this donation and help ensure the town’s Christmas displays will continue long into the future.”

Alan Murphy, vice chair of Crieff at Christmas, said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive this fantastic donation from Persimmon Homes North Scotland.

“This will allow the group to purchase new light displays for the town, and for all to enjoy during the festivities.”
