A charity golf tournament organised by staff at Persimmon North Scotland has resulted in more than £12,000 being raised to support Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS).

Almost 100 golfers took part in the Texas Scramble on Kinross Golf Club’s Bruce course, with teams of four from a variety of local companies competing for a host of top prizes.

After the scores were added up, it was Parker Energy who topped the leader board and secured the first prize of a round of golf for four at Gleneagles – beating Forterra on a tiebreak by having the best back nine score.

Earlier this year, staff at Persimmon’s North Scotland office selected CHAS as their charity of the year and committed to organising a range of fundraising activities throughout the year.

As well as supporting the charity’s ongoing work across Scotland, the funds raised by Persimmon staff will directly benefit Rachel House Children’s Hospice in Kinross. The facility on Avenue Road has a range of facilities, including a hydrotherapy room, large accessible gardens and space for both relaxation and fun for families.

Persimmon North Scotland’s charity of the year partnership comes in addition to the company’s Community Champions scheme, which sees each of the homebuilder’s 30 offices across the UK donate up to £6,000 every quarter to local charities and organisations that make a real difference to people’s lives.

James MacKay, managing director of Persimmon North Scotland, said: “I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part, made a donation or gifted prizes – all of which helped us to raise a fantastic amount of money for a really worthwhile cause.

“We’re proud to be supporting CHAS this year by hosting a range of fundraising events. We’ve already held a successful bake sale and football tournament and the golf day has given a big boost to the amount of money we’ll be able to donate.

“Our team is looking forward to holding more events later in the year to help generate as much support as possible for Rachel House and other hospices across the country.”
