Persimmon swings into action in support of cancer charity

Persimmon Homes West Scotland hit the green in style for its second annual charity golf tournament, raising over £12,000 for The Beatson Cancer Charity.

Held at the prestigious East Renfrewshire Golf Club, the event saw more than 85 golfers, including Persimmon staff, subcontractors, and land agents, swing into action to support the vital work of The Beatson.

The tournament was packed with excitement, with teams competing in a variety of on-course challenges, including the longest drive using a persimmon wood golf club, a “Beat the Pro” competition, and a “Closest to the Pin” challenge. The competition was fierce, with three teams – Wallace Quinn, Total Scaffold, and Tilecraft – tying for first place, showcasing impressive skill and sportsmanship.

Max Hill, Persimmon West Scotland land buyer and the event’s organiser, said: “It’s amazing to see so many people come together to support such a fantastic cause.

“The energy and enthusiasm on the course were incredible, and I’m thrilled that we could raise such a significant amount for The Beatson.”

Chris Logan, managing director of Persimmon West Scotland, said: “The Beatson Cancer Charity has touched the lives of so many people, and we’re proud to continue supporting their important work.

“Our team has been dedicated to fundraising throughout the year, and this golf tournament is just one of the many ways we’re helping to make a difference.”

Charlene Low, regional fundraising manager for Beatson Cancer Charity, said: “Seeing the commitment and generosity from Persimmon Homes West Scotland and everyone involved in this event is truly uplifting. The funds raised will make a significant impact on our ability to support cancer patients and their families during their most challenging times. We are incredibly grateful for the continued partnership and enthusiasm from everyone at Persimmon Homes.”

The event was made possible thanks to a range of sponsors, with Hacking and Pearson Management Services leading the way as the headline sponsor for this year’s tournament.

Earlier this year, Persimmon Homes West Scotland announced The Beatson Cancer Charity as their charity of choice for the second consecutive year. From exhilarating zipline challenges over the River Clyde to dress-down days at the office, Persimmon employees have been actively raising funds through various initiatives.

The £12,000 raised at the golf tournament will contribute to Persimmon’s ongoing efforts to support The Beatson Cancer Charity, ensuring they can continue delivering life-saving services to cancer patients across Scotland.
