Perth and Kinross Council approves Blairgowrie flats plan
Perth and Kinross Council members have approved plans to construct four new flats within a Conservation Area in Blairgowrie.
The plans will see a vacant two-storey shop unit transformed into two flats and the adjoining single-storey storage building demolished to form another two flats.
The proposals generated ten objections from seven individuals with concerns about demolishing a historic building in the area. The application came before the council’s Planning and Placemaking Committee on March 22.
IMAC Architecture applied for permission on behalf of applicants David Brash and Sandy Sarwar to build the new homes at 29 Reform Street, Blairgowrie, the Perthshire Advertiser reports.
The proposal put before councillors was to convert a former garden and pet centre into two flats and demolish the single-storey building at the back to create two further flats. Both unlisted buildings are within the Blairgowrie Conservation Area.
The application for conversion was approved by nine votes to three.
The subsequent application for demolition of the single-storey building at the rear was then unanimously approved.
