Perth and Kinross Council approves Glenisla Golf Course homes

The council’s planning and development management committee met on Wednesday, April 7 to discuss plans.

Councillors were recommended to approve phases two and three which will see 55 bungalows and 51 associated garages erected on land 200 metres north of Pitcrocknie Farmhouse, Alyth.

The houses will add to a care home and house and business units that have already been developed by Glenisla Developments Ltd in phases one and two. To date, 20 houses and three business units have been completed.

Building work on the care home is still progressing, and is due to be completed and ready for opening in autumn 2021, The Perthshire Advertiser reports.

Liberal Democrat councillor Willie Wilson moved the plans for approval. He said:“It’s a fairly extensive development for Alyth and inevitably it takes time for all the bits to be processed through. I’m pleased to see this going ahead.”

Conservative councillor Ian James seconded and said: “It’s reassuring to see this going forward with not a single objection. It’s a large development - not a single objection - and it’s really nice to see. We do need the housing.”

He agreed with Cllr Wilson the application had been well thought through and said he was very happy to second.

The committee unanimously approved the application.
