Perthshire public asked to back £25m sports hub plans
Plans have been revealed for one of the biggest sports projects Perth has seen, which it is hoped will produce the “next generation” of Olympic athletes.
The £25 million PH2O scheme on the site of Perth Leisure Pool will have state-of-the-art swimming pools, an ice rink, gym, health suite and an external adventure play zone, in what has been described as a “21st-Century flagship” for the city.
A dedicated website will enable interested parties to log on and register support online for the mammoth project, which requires £15m in funding.
Developers hope to attract about 250,000 visitors a year to the new sports hub, which should open its doors in four years’ time.
Backed by Olympic medallist and skip of the Great British women’s curling team Eve Muirhead, the ‘vision’ of PH2O is to create a “captivating venue” offering a mix of more than 20 sports and leisure opportunities in the heart of Perth.
