Plans lodged for £10m Premier Inn hotel in Pitlochry

Land west of the town’s Bridge Road, across from the recycling centre, has been earmarked for the £10 million development.

The three-storey building, with restaurant and outside seating area, is expected to create 35 jobs in the community and could provide a £1.6 million boost to the local economy in tourist spending.

Further to the public exhibition held in November 2019, the scheme has evolved as a result of feedback received during the exhibition and further discussions with officers at Perth & Kinross Council planning department.

The proposed hotel is pre-let to Whitbread Group Plc for its Premier Inn hotel brand. If the planning application is successful it is hoped that construction will commence before the end of 2020 and the hotel will be open for trade in early 2022.

John Rumsey, development director at Riverstone, said: “This is an exciting project for Pitlochry, particularly given the site has laid dormant for several years due to the lack of any supermarket operator for the current consented scheme.

“hotel and restaurant will help support the growing tourism and visitor economy in Perthshire as well as providing 35 permanent full time equivalent jobs.”

Mr Rumsey added: “The overriding feedback that we received from the public exhibition was of support for the proposed hotel and I would encourage those members of the public that remain supportive of our application to make this known to Perth & Kinross Council through the online planning portal.”
