Whiteburn Projects has submitted a detailed planning application for a residential development on land accessed from Stow Road in the north of Lauder.

As part of the overall vision for this development, Whiteburn is preparing to deliver a range of 117 new homes offering a mix of three and four-bedroom homes for sale, including 28 affordable homes to rent.

The application follows two local public consultation events earlier this year.

Roger Bainbridge, director of design and delivery for Whiteburn Projects, said: “It is our aspiration that Allanbank will provide a natural extension to the existing, vibrant community of Lauder, delivering a choice of new homes that will appeal to local people or those who want to enjoy the fantastic quality of life, living in the Scottish Borders offers. Our two public consultation events provided helpful feedback from various members of the local community who took the time to share their views and suggestions.

“We’ve been able to consider these views as our plans for the development have evolved, as well as work with Scottish Borders Council throughout the Pre-Application process. We are now excited to be able to submit a robust set of proposals that we believe will create a fabulous new neighbourhood for Lauder.”

Managing director Eve McCurrich believes that Whiteburn’s focus on placemaking will capitalise on the location of Allanbank and create uplifting new homes for people to live within this established Borders community, she added: “Our key objective is to build a development which not only offers a variety of homes for local people at all stages of life but create a great place for people to live.

“This planning application is a real milestone for this development, and we are excited to finally be in a position to make progress and demonstrate our commitment towards the delivery of new homes in Lauder.”

Whiteburn Projects is a member of the Considerate Constructor Scheme and is fully committed to a programme of engagement with local communities and key stakeholders throughout the lifetime of its developments. Its programme of community engagement for the Allanbank development has included discussions with Scottish Borders Council regarding a range of Section 75 community benefits, as well as two public consultation events.
