Plans lodged for 18 affordable homes in Perth
ADP Architecture has submitted designs for a new affordable housing development on behalf of Hadden Group in partnership with Perth & Kinross Council.
About this development:
- Authority:Perth and Kinross
- Type:Residential
- Applications:
- Team:ADP Architecture (architect), Hadden Group (contractor)
Based on the outskirts of Perth, the development will provide 18 affordable, high-quality homes on the site of the former Fairfield Neighbourhood Centre.
The development forms part of Perth & Kinross Council’s ambition to regenerate areas experiencing higher levels of deprivation or inequality, creating thriving communities where people want to live and work. The homes are sustainable and efficient, in keeping with the council’s Climate Emergency Action Plan and ADP’s own commitment to tackling the climate crisis.
The development is split into two forms, each providing nine apartments, and sitting on either side of a shared community courtyard at the heart of the site.
In ita design statement, ADP wrote: “The proposed development aims to create a sequence of landscape spaces linking the existing northeast corner of the site to the tree-lined pedestrian walkway to the south.
“Retention of existing trees around the northeast corner of the site has heavily influenced the layout of the proposed development. The existing trees will be enhanced with proposed new hard and soft landscaping in this area, creating an improved piece of public realm and a welcome pedestrian entrance to the scheme.”
The project is ADP’s second with the Hadden Group, after recently working together to deliver a successful new nursery in Falkirk.
