Plans submitted for 124 new housing association homes in Shetland
Plans for 124 new homes in Lerwick for Hjatland Housing Association have been submitted to Shetland Islands Council for approval.
The development, designed by PJP Architects, will consist of 61 one-bedroom flats, 57 two-bedroom houses and six four-bedroom houses.
Called “The Terrace”, it will form one of five distinct areas making up a masterplan for the development of a large site at North Staneyhill.
The Terrace will be located behind the Anderson High School halls of residence on the site, which was purchased by the housing association in 2015.
The development also includes a new spine road which will lead from North Loch Drive to Wista at the North West with branches off to Staneyhill.
At the east edge of the site between the new road and the existing housing, a public green space is proposed called “The Green Corridor”.
This will provide public amenity green space and also be designed with a series of detention basins and ponds to attenuate and control the surface water runoff from the new road and housing developments.
