Plans submitted for 50-unit apartment building at Barras arts hub site in Glasgow
Spectrum Properties intends to submit plans seeking to knock down a derelict Calton property currently used as a community arts venue and to build flats in its place.
The firm hopes to build 50 apartments on the site at the Barras market, bounded by London Road, Bain Street and Stevenson Street.
The building would comprise of a mixture of one, two, three and four-bedroom flats, reGlasgow reports.
A five-storey property that currently occupies some of the plot is home to The Space, with studios and performance areas for creatives and space for community events.
The owner of the site, Spectrum, has launched a consultation over their proposal, ahead of submitting a planning application.
A report prepared for Spectrum has revealed that the building is in very poor condition with significant issues including extensive water ingress and structural deterioration and corrosion.
