Plans submitted for £56m Aberdeen elective care facility
NHS Grampian has lodged detailed plans for a new £56 million elective care centre in Aberdeen.
About this development:
- Authority:Aberdeen City
- Type:Healthcare
- Applications:
- Team:Mackie Ramsay Taylor (architect), Astell Associates (landscape consultant)
Situated on grassland next to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, off Foresterhill Road, the new facility aims to provide ‘one-stop’ outpatient clinics for urology, respiratory, dermatology and outpatient imaging services.
The four-storey building will include surgical and medical specialities for day patients, as well as an endoscopy unit.
The plans, which are designed by Mackie Ramsay Taylor Architects to “future-proof” elective services against demand growth and capacity challenges, were unveiled last year at an NHS board meeting, along with the timeline for the project.
Landscaping undertaken by Astell Associates will introduce a daffodil hill, wildflower meadows and space for seating and cycle parking.
Construction is expected to begin next year and be completed in 2021.
