Glencairn Properties initially submitted proposals for the development at 14 Ashley Place in July last year, but has since revealed amended plans for the site.

Having already demolished the building that was previously on the plot, the developers are looking to replace it with 65 flats. These would comprise of three adjoining blocks creating an ‘L’ shape.

The blocks will vary between four-storeys and six-storeys, with the top floor set back from the roofline and includes roof terraces. There will be a mix of one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom flats available, while sixteen of the new homes will be affordable.

Meanwhile, the proposed materials for the exterior of the building include a mix of light and dark grey facing brick, with “feature corners”. Amid privacy concerns from local residents, the City of Edinburgh Council has reassured that the blocks are set back to increase the distance between flats, while the courtyard will have a planted buffer.

Glencairn Properties has said the flat sizes have remained in line with council guidance, despite raising the total number of flats from 58 to 65, and will still provide 20% for families, Edinburgh Live reports.
