GLM’s designs will see the construction of a new hub incorporating a restaurant, visitor’s centre and the marina’s yacht club and the redevelopment of the existing buildings at Port Edgar into an improved retail offering.

Developers behind the Port Edgar Marina project said the proposed site – located to the west of South Queensferry and close to the World Heritage-listed Forth Bridge – would boast a restaurant with “floor to ceiling” glazing and “stunning” views across the water.

It is understood the cost of the development will be around £1.2 million, with timescales for construction still to be confirmed.

GLM associate director Neil McAllister said: “The design is very much driven by the site and by research into harbour front pavilions worldwide such as the new Fish Market building in Bergen.

“The main element is a curved block with monopitched roof and floor-to-ceiling glazing to give panoramic views from the restaurant and yacht club across the Forth and the gallery of bridges old and new.”

He added: “The project is part of a significant investment into the site that GLM are working on behalf of Port Edgar Marina to diversify the business on site and secure the long term viability of the marina for watersports enthusiasts and the general public alike.

“This will include refurbishment of existing buildings to increase the retail offering on site.”
