Plumbing apprentice enjoys flush of acheivement
Jack Forbes, a fourth year plumbing apprentice with Glasgow-based A. Alexander & Son (Electrical) Ltd, has been awarded Edinburgh College’s ‘Best Apprentice Plumber’ 2022.
The award follows his success in SNIPEF’s SkillPlumb competition earlier this year when he came third amongst 28 apprentices from colleges and training centres throughout Scotland competing in the Lead & Copper skill challenge categories.
Jack was also selected to participate in last week’s “WorldSkills UK Skill Plumb National Final” in Middlesborough. WorldSkills is an independent charity and a partnership between employers, education and government, supporting young people by hosting competition-based training, assessment and benchmarking, as well as raising industry standards.
Bernard Diamond, director, A Alexander & Son (Electrical) Ltd, said: “Jack is extremely dedicated to his profession and it’s terrific to see his commitment paying off with this recognition. Since commencing his apprenticeship Jack’s enthusiasm and work ethic has been fantastic. He has great mentors in the business, and he compliments this with a great willingness to learn. We are all very proud of him, he’s a credit to his family.”
In recognition of Jack’s hard work, the company presented him with a £200.00 Screwfix voucher to allow him to add to his tool kit.
Based in Glasgow’s southside, A. Alexander & Son (Electrical) Ltd is a family owned business and operates four divisions specialising in commercial and domestic electrical services, mechanical services, and fire & securing services. Further information is available from alexgroup.com.
