Procast completes Wishaw community centre revamp

Principal contractor Procast Group has transformed the beloved Heathery Park Family Learning Centre in Wishaw giving it a new lease of life for local families to enjoy.

The community project was commissioned by North Lanarkshire Council (NLC) and Hamilton-based group Procast recently completed the refurb, bringing the building up to PAS 2035 industry standards for energy efficiency, creating a warm and welcoming environment for all.

Earlier this year, Procast Group was approached by NLC to take over the project and drive it forward to completion after the building had fallen into disrepair.

The existing local community centre was identified for a full refurbishment and refresh as part of the ambitious 1,140 hours Early Years and Childcare programme.

Procast stepped in as the main contractor to deliver a full turnkey solution, managing every aspect of the building’s transformation, including both the internal renovation and external work such as external wall insulation, windows, bathrooms and kitchen upgrades.

The team has worked tirelessly to restore and repurpose the venue, ensuring it meets the council’s specifications for an early learning centre that can accommodate up to 40 children.

The Family Learning Centre will be staffed by eight trained NLC employees and will provide a safe, nurturing environment for local children in the early learning bracket, supporting their educational and developmental needs.

“The Heathery Park project is a shining example of how community spaces can be revitalised and repurposed for future generations,” said Derek Innes, group managing director at Procast Group.

“We’re proud to have played a key role in bringing this important project to life, ensuring that it meets the highest standards of quality and safety. It’s a testament to what can be achieved when local councils and contractors work together.”
