Procast to kick off transformation of Alloa’s Greenfield House

Principal contractor Procast Group has won a contract to begin the transformation of the derelict Greenfield House in Alloa.
The Hamilton-based firm will begin to update the iconic out-of-use manor house from next month after winning a £1 million contract to carry out the 13-month project.
Working with Clackmannanshire Council, Procast will deliver Phases 1 and 2 to make the renowned and historic building, located within Greenfield Park, wind and watertight.
This will, largely, involve remedial work to the roof, glazing and gutters to start the process of bringing the building back to its former glory.
Phase 2 will involve eliminating damp and dry rot, along with plaster repairs and some decoration.
The stunning building, which has lay empty for eight years, is still to have its final use decided by the council.
Derek Innes, owner and managing director of Procast Group, said: “We are excited to commence work on this fantastic heritage building – which has stood in the centre of Alloa for more than 130 years.
“Our hope is to be part of the journey to restoring this stunning manor house to past glories and, by commencing Phase 1, we believe we are taking a huge stride forward to achieving that.
“Hopefully, come the end of this initial project, we are able to continue with the works to bring this cultural landmark back up to scratch and maintain its prominence in the town for another century.”
The works are part of Clackmannanshire Council’s wider investment programme connected to the City Region Deal, in which it aims to leverage more than £5.5m to develop and celebrate the county’s rich culture, heritage and tourism roots.
Councillor Jane McTaggart, depute spokesperson for place, said: “I am delighted this beautiful and important historic building is to be repaired by the council.
“I know there is a lot of hard work going on in the background with the aim of securing the building’s long-term future, including options to secure external funding, and I am looking forward to hearing how those plans develop in the coming months.”
