Two Levenmouth building projects are set to take a step forward after councillors provisionally agreed funding allocations from local capital budgets.

Members of Fife Council’s Levenmouth Area Committee have set aside £77,500 to the Bishop’s Court Public Realm Improvement project in Kennoway, and a further £35,000 to the Herd Park Pavilion proposal in Methilhill pending more detailed reports which will go before the committee in November.

The news comes as members were given an overview of the capital work being undertaken or planned in the Levenmouth area, including building projects, play park projects and green infrastructure initiatives.

The funding approved for Bishop’s Court, sitting alongside cash previously allocated from other budgets, means a total of £137,500 will be available for the project, which will see the demolition of the old public toilets, the removal of existing brick planters and replacement with railings, and the installation of a ramp from the bus stop to the shopping area.

Meanwhile, the funding agreed for Herd Park, again put alongside previously allocated sums, means around £100,000 will go towards replacing the current changing facilities and bringing about a significant improvement in quality and sustainability in terms of running costs.

Both are provisional allocations but will support more detailed applications for agreement to fund which would be brought to the November 2024 Levenmouth Area Committee.

Councillor Colin Davidson, area committee convener, added: “The proposals all contribute to the main theme of Thriving Places found in the Plan for Fife, along with the core priorities within the Levenmouth Local Plan around improving health outcomes.

“The Bishop’s Court and Herd Park projects have been in the pipeline for some time now, so the agreement of this funding means we can take these forward sooner rather than later.

“We look forward to seeing the more detailed plans at our next meeting in November.”
