Provisional liquidator appointed to wind up Principal Building

A provisional liquidator has been appointed to wind up East Kilbride-based Principal Building, the lead subsidiary of construction and property business Edison Group.

Stuart Robb of Robb Advisory was appointed as provisional liquidator on 10 December 2024 after a winding-up order was served by Kilmarnock Sheriff Court.

Principal Building comprises the former Glasgow-based project management, interior fit-out and property maintenance business GDC Design, which was acquired by Edison Group in January 2023.

The parent company then initiated a rebrand for the business 12 months later amid a £2 million investment to secure and equip new premises in South Lanarkshire.

The facility in Langlands Business Park East Kilbride also hosts Edison Group companies Eden Homes (Scotland) Ltd, Crown Architectural Ltd and TedCo Contracts Ltd.

A strong start to 2024 saw Principal Building make a raft of senior appointments. It also secured contracts worth around £16m from a holiday lodges contract at West Ferry, Langbank and housing development contracts in East Kilbride, Port Glasgow and Dunoon along with an industrial new build in Paisley.
