QTS celebrates 10th year of sponsoring Kilmarnock boxing club

QTS Group has announced its 10th year of supporting the Kilmarnock-based Northwest Boxing Club, reaffirming its commitment to grassroots sports and the local community.

Since first partnering with the club in 2015, QTS Group has provided vital funding for almost a decade, helping to keep costs low for attendees and ensuring continued access to training, equipment, and tournaments such as the prestigious ‘King of the Ring’.

Northwest Boxing Club plays a crucial role in offering young people a positive outlet, particularly for those facing challenges in their daily lives. The club provides structure, discipline, and mentorship, helping to guide and inspire the next generation of athletes.

To date, Northwest Boxing Club has supported thousands of children over the years, with approximately 250 currently enrolled in the club, benefiting from its resources and community.

Among them is Kieran McMaster, a former club boxer turned coach, who was sponsored by QTS Group during his competitive years. Now, he’s giving back by training the next generation alongside his father, Graeme Marshall, the club’s Chairman, and dedicated volunteer Ray Connell.

After introducing Kieran to Northwest in 2007 when the club was operating from an old hut, Graeme was soon asked to assist with training. Kieran went on to have 109 bouts, represent Scotland, and medal at the Youth Commonwealth Games. Seventeen years later, Graeme remains at the helm, now joined by Kieran and a coaching team of former Northwest competitors; Ray Connell, Craig Best, Kieran McMaster, Ewan Hamilton, and Josue Paluku. Their shared experience and deep-rooted passion continue to drive Northwest forward, ensuring its boxers thrive.

Graeme Marshall, chairman at Northwest Boxing Club said: “QTS sponsorship has massively helped the club thrive and be the success it is today. Our boxers now have the opportunity to travel and gain valuable experience in international boxing. We regularly attend the world’s largest male boxing tournament in Sweden, where our boxers have medalled every year, and without QTS’ support this trip wouldn’t be possible.

“We have been able to keep our gym and equipment to the highest standard for the benefit of all our users due to QTS. Knowing we can comfortably operate without the stress of ever-increasing energy bills has made a massive difference to our club.

“Being associated with such a well-respected household name as QTS is an honour for our club, coaches and members.”

Andy Steel, managing director of QTS, added: “Northwest Boxing Club is a fine example of the success you can have when you get the right partnership in action.

“It’s such an important part of the community in East Ayrshire, and we’re proud to be working with them for another year as the support they provide to young people in the area is truly something special. I can’t wait to see what Graeme, Ray, and the whole team achieve this year!”
