The company won the prestigious Construction News Specialist Awards’ Project of the Year (subcontract over £6m) for its work on the Queensferry Crossing.

The business also won the prestigious Best Use of MEP & Pod Technology at the national Offsite Awards for its £18 million project to deliver full MEP services on the Quadram Institute, a science and research facility in Norwich, as well as the International Safety Award from the British Safety Council for the 22nd year running.

Presenting SES the Project of the Year Award at the Construction News Specialist Awards for the Queensferry Crossing, Tom Fitzpatrick, editor of Construction News, said: “SES was recognised for building better, safer and smarter and for the innovation they demonstrate which lights the way for the rest of the industry.”

The award recognised the company’s work on the crossing – now the longest three-tower, cable-stayed bridge in the world and the centrepiece of the Scottish Government’s unprecedented £1.35 billion upgrade to the cross-Forth transport corridor.

SES delivered MEP systems for the bridge’s North and South approach sections, the central cable-stayed bridge, its towers and abutment buildings. One of the most technically challenging elements of the project saw SES deliver its largest ever pre-fabrication installation to date – installing and securing 120 prebuilt road deck sections.

Elsewhere, the annual Offsite Awards recognised SES’ Quadram Institute project as a stellar example of innovation and best practice. With over 200 exemplary entries packed full of pioneering projects, innovative products and inspirational people - this year’s independent panel of judges felt SES’ work stood out.

SES’ International Safety Award win recognized its commitment to keeping its workers and workplaces healthy and safe during the 2017 calendar year.

Mike Robinson, chief executive of the British Safety Council, congratulated SES on its success in winning an International Safety Award 2018 with a Pass: “The British Safety Council commends SES on their achievement. The award is in recognition of their commitment and efforts to keep their employees and workplaces free of injury and ill health.”

SES has also been nominated for another three awards in the last month alone. The business is in the running for the prestigious Specialist Contractor of the Year category at the Construction News Awards 2018 set to be held in London in July. SES is also shortlisted in the Offsite and the Health, Safety and Wellbeing categories at the Constructing Excellence London & South East Awards 2018.
