Redevelopment works to restart at Westhaugh

Redevelopment works will soon recommence at the travelling persons’ site at Westhaugh, near Alva.

Clackmannanshire Council agreed to a revised budget for the project at a meeting earlier today. This allows for the appointment of new contractor.

The project was paused in February 2024 as a result of Hub East Central Scotland’s building contractor having gone into administration.

Since then, Hub East Central Scotland has negotiated and agreed a new fixed price for completion of the works.

Councillor Jane McTaggart, depute spokesperson for place, said: “I am delighted this key council project has a new contractor and an agreed, fixed budget is back in place.

“When complete the redeveloped site will meet modern, energy efficient standards, as well as the cultural needs of residents.

“I must thank the Westhaugh community for their patience and resilience during the unfortunate and unavoidable delays to this project. I look forward to completion and to seeing all the families back together again.”

It is hoped the onsite works will commence in May with the residents expected to be back living on site by next April.
