Refurbished Gleneagles Station opens in time for Ryder Cup

Balfour Beatty is celebrating the official opening of the newly refurbished Gleneagles Station in Auchterarder following a £7.4 million investment.

Infrastructure works on the station and surrounding area have been completed in time for the anticipated influx of visitors for the Ryder Cup starting on 23 September.

Lift access at Gleneagles Station

Balfour Beatty was responsible for a package of works to provide step-free access at the station on behalf of Network Rail. This included design and construction work to install two new lifts within the existing grade B listed Gleneagles Station building and the refurbishment of the overbridge, existing stair access and associated buildings.



Transport Minister Keith Brown MSP, said: “At the heart of this work has been our commitment to ensure that this partnership investment in Gleneagles will deliver a lasting transport legacy.”

Councillor Ian Miller, Leader of Perth & Kinross Council, said: “Perth & Kinross Council has been supporting improvements to the station and surrounding area for many years. It is rewarding that the works to provide a safer, more accessible and better integrated transport system for the local community and visitors have been completed in such an important year for Scotland.”

Hector MacAulay, Balfour Beatty delivery unit managing director, added: “We are delighted to have been part of this collaborative project to provide a station that will deliver the best possible travel experience for those coming to the Ryder Cup. The station will also provide a lasting legacy for the local community.”
