Replacement contractor appointed to complete South Ayrshire golf clubhouse
South Ayrshire Council has appointed a contractor to complete works on a golf clubhouse after it was forced to terminate the original building contract.
3B Construction Ltd will start work at Belleisle Golf Club House on October 5th with a view to completing the £1.5 million clubhouse in March 2016.
The appointment follows the termination of the previous contract with T & A Kernoghan due a lack of progress.
The project was originally scheduled for completion in March this year.
Councillor Bill Grant, portfolio holder for economic development, tourism and leisure, said: “I am delighted that the new club house will finally be back on track. Like many people I have been frustrated with this project but decisive action has been taken and the new appointment will move this project forward. I would like to thank golfers and the wider community for their patience and co-operation and I am sure that 3B Construction will work hard to deliver this much anticipated facility.”
The clubhouse, which will be available to golfers playing Belleisle – viewed by many as the best public inland course in the country – as well as its ‘sister’ course, Seafield, will include: modern changing accommodation, a new golf professional shop, a large modern cafe bar, new starter facilities, club rooms, lounge area, and a golf simulator room.
3B Construction Ltd was set up in 2003 and has a good reputation for quality, value and delivering projects on time and to budget. The company was one of those invited to tender first time round.
T & A Kernoghan was also removed from a deal to build a new £2.2m community complex and office space in Midlothian.
