A planning application for a residents’ hub has been submitted, with the aim of creating a central facility for the communal use of residents of the 90 flats being developed to replace the 234 homes currently in place.

LMA Architects has described a “communal gathering space and residents hub in the form of a stand-alone single-storey pavilion building” in its planning application. 

The statement reads: “The building would be located between two future blocks, part of a long term replacement of the existing towers with new flats. The location allows the hub to be placed centrally and be relatively equidistant from either block.”

The application reveals that the pavilion would not be seen from John Street, adding: “From the river, the set back and single-storey height make it a modest and unimposing addition to the riverscape. The design gives the communal space a larger volume and higher ceilings and the remaining support facilities a more conventional height.”
