RGU to host international architectural technology conference
Robert Gordon Unive (RGU) is gearing up to host an international architectural technology conference next month.
The Scott Sutherland School of Architecture and Built Environment will host the International Conference of Architectural Technology (ICAT) 2014 between Thursday, November 6 and Saturday, November 8, which this year will focus on innovative professional practice.
Chaired by RGU architecture programme leader, Tahar Kouider, the event will feature a presentation by keynote speaker Professor David Philp, head of BIM (Building Information Modelling) at Mace and part of the HM Government Task Group Core BIM team.
There will also be research papers on environmental design; architectural professional practice; BIM theory and applications; and architectural technology teaching and learning.
The university will run a BIM clinic, in parallel to the conference, which will offer local built environment practitioners the opportunity to discuss the implementation and practice of BIM, and the potential for co-operation.
The aim of ICAT 2014 is to provide a platform for researchers and academics, as well as practicing professionals from all over the world, to present their research and professional development activities in architectural technology.
Mr Kouider said: “Robert Gordon University is delighted to be hosting this exciting conference and we look forward to welcoming delegates from around the globe to Aberdeen.
“The event will provide opportunities for the exchange of ideas and application experiences that help to explore and define the role of the architectural technology professional in response to the challenges of changing industry needs.”
The programme also includes a student competition and workshop.
