Riverside Dalmarnock development takes home fourth award

Housing organisation Link Group and Hypostyle Architects are celebrating a win at the Scottish Design Awards for their Glasgow development, Riverside Dalmarnock.

The development won the Architecture: Regeneration award at last Wednesday’s ceremony.

Link Group commercial director and managing director of C~urb, Colin Culross, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to take home another award for this outstanding development. Our architects Hypostyle, clearly demonstrated their creative talent and dedication to delivering the absolute best in terms of architecture, build and placemaking.

“This is the fourth win in the four awards we have been up for, and it is fantastic the project has been recognised in this way. Delivering these high-quality homes has been a team effort from day one.

“I’d like to thank the other members of the Riverside Dalmarnock design team, Armour Construction Consultants, G3 Consulting Engineers, Carbon Futures Energy & Sustainability Consultants and Hulley and Kirkwood M&E Engineers, along with contractors McTaggart Construction.”

He added: “Everyone’s contributions and collaborative approach have helped deliver such a great example of regeneration in Glasgow’s East End.

“I’d also like to recognise the support and funding from Glasgow City Council’s Neighbourhood Regeneration Services and the Scottish Government, without which, the project would not have been possible.”

Riverside Dalmarnock also won both the Affordable Housing Development of Year and Housing Regeneration Project of the Year at last month’s Scottish Home Awards, together with the Large Development of the Year award at May’s Homes for Scotland awards.

Hypostyle Architects director Gerry Henaughen, added: “Riverside Dalmarnock has been over eight years in the making and these awards highlight the effort, conceptual ideas, intricate design and planning of the architects, the design team, the client (Link Group), and the partnering contractor (McTaggart Construction).

“This design transformed an unattractive and polluted industrial site into a sustainable community of high-quality homes. The development embraces the Scottish Government’s placemaking agenda and creates a sustainable community with excellent green credentials and energy performance well beyond current guidelines.

“It also provides a design exceeding the design quality aims of Glasgow City Council’s Planning Department.

“Most importantly, it provides high quality energy efficient and comfortable homes, in a beautiful place where people are happy to live, work and play.”

Located beside Glasgow’s Commonwealth Games Village, Riverside Dalmarnock houses 562 properties for social and mid-market rent, alongside affordable home ownership through the Scottish Government shared equity scheme, managed by Link’s latest partner company C~urb.

The films are available to watch on YouTube.
