Robertson completes 76 new affordable homes for Fife Council

The new homes in Kennoway
Tenants have begun moving into two newly completed affordable housing developments at Pitcorthie in Dunfermline and Kennoway near Leven, delivered for Fife Council by Robertson Construction.
Both developments form part of Fife Council’s Affordable Housing Programme, one of the largest social house-building programmes in the UK. In total, Robertson is contracted to deliver seven projects for Fife Council as part of its ambitious delivery of new homes across the region.
Delivered by Robertson Construction, the Pitcorthie and Kennoway developments follow on from 17 new homes in Cupar, handed over by Robertson ahead of programme in December 2023.
Homes at both developments have been constructed to energy-efficient designs, with high-performance insulation, windows, sprinklers and modern heating systems to reduce running costs while supporting local communities with affordable housing. Additionally, the homes feature PV panels.
Split into two phases, the first part of the Kennoway development completed in December, providing 43 high-quality homes on the site of a former school. Homes include a mix of detached and semi-detached properties of various sizes, alongside single-storey amenity and wheelchair-accessible bungalows.
The second phase of the development, which will add 20 more homes, is currently underway and is expected to complete at the end of the year.

The Pitcorthie development in Dunfermline
The Pitcorthie development in Dunfermline comprises a mix of 33 one- and two-bed bungalows, transforming the site of another former school. Two of the homes are wheelchair accessible, and a community hub house has also been built to support local engagement and services.
Gordon Milne, regional managing director, Robertson Construction Eastern, said: “The handover of the Pitcorthie and Kennoway developments mark another milestone in our ongoing delivery for Fife Council’s Affordable Housing Programme. These projects are transforming vacant sites into much-needed homes, bringing real benefits to local communities.
“We’ve already seen the positive impact of the work completed by Robertson in Cupar and look forward to building our relationship with Fife Council as we support them in their ambitious housing plans.”
Councillor Judy Hamilton, Fife Council’s spokesperson for Housing and Building Services, said: “I am delighted to see tenants moving into their new homes. In the face of a housing emergency, Fife Council remains committed to delivering much-needed council homes through our Affordable Housing Programme.
“Every new home provides a warmer, healthier environment that improves the wellbeing of our tenants, while also creating jobs and apprenticeships that support the construction industry and our local economy.”
Robertson ensured that the local communities benefited socially and economically throughout the construction process. Across both developments, over £10m was spent with local micro, small and medium enterprises whilst 730 apprenticeship weeks were hosted on the sites. Strong engagement was also held with local schools and Fife College, ranging from career talks to site visits and work placement opportunities.
Robertson continues its delivery of Fife Council’s Affordable Housing Programme with further developments in Dunfermline, Cowdenbeath, Lochgelly and Glenrothes.
