Robertson completes on £4.95m Auchinairn community facility
Robertson has completed work on a £4.95m community facility in the Auchinairn area of East Dunbartonshire.
Built on the site of the former Auchinairn Primary School, the new community space will provide a range of facilities including a nursery, community hall, cafe, meeting rooms and play area.
Work on the build phase of the community facility commenced in May of last year, with Robertson serving as main contractor on behalf of East Dunbartonshire Council.
Ed Parry, managing director, Robertson Central West, said: “This is a state-of-the-art facility and one that I am sure residents of Auchinairn will take to their hearts. Over the past few years, we have established a strong relationship with East Dunbartonshire Council and that has proved invaluable to the success of the project. We’ve also engaged extensively with the local community, ensuring they were part of the process every step of the way.”
Robertson also recently completed work on the nearby Huntershill Sports Hub Facility, which opened its doors in September 2017. Designed to encourage sporting activity, the facility includes an all-weather 3G sports pitch, a sports pavilion building, an athletics track and three year-round tennis courts.
East Dunbartonshire Provost Alan Brown officially opened the new building. He said: “In partnership with Robertson we have been able to build a centre that meets the needs of the local communities.
“They helped us consult with residents, community groups and the nursery to ensure the building provided a modern facility which would become a central part of community life.
“It is already very busy with local groups using its hall and meeting spaces every night of the week, the café is up and running and the children in the nursery are loving exploring their new indoor and outdoor learning and play areas.”
The work at Auchinairn and Huntershill was procured through Scape Group’s National Major Works framework, now superseded by Major Works Scotland, part of the Scape National Construction framework, and delivered by Robertson in partnership with Willmott Dixon.
Victoria Brambini, managing director of Scape Procure, said: “The new state of the art facilities in Auchinairn will act as a fantastic community hub for local people, and will add real value to the area.
“Through the use of our National Construction framework, East Dunbartonshire Council has achieved great value for money and benefitted from high quality, efficient delivery. The project has also given back to the community by using local suppliers and the creation of new jobs and apprenticeship opportunities across the region.”
