Robertson was awarded won two major prizes at the UK’s top industry award gala last week.
The company was named Contractor of the Year (turnover over £500 million) at the CN Awards amid stern competition from other industry heavyweights.
Judges praised Robertson’s approach, saying the company “displayed a very clear and deeply authentic commitment to its business, communities in which it worked and its supply chain”.
The event – held on Thursday night in London and run by Construction News – also saw Robertson win in the Project of the Year (over £50m) category for the Macallan Distillery.
Robertson served as main contractor on the £140m distillery and visitor centre in Speyside for Edrington. Completed last year, Robertson worked with 25 contractors to bring the architectural vision to life. During construction, up to 400 people specialising in more than 20 different trades were employed on site.
Robertson was also Highly Commended in the Project of the Year (Under £20m) category for its work at Spanish City in Whitley Bay. The £10m restoration work was carried out for North Tyneside Council and transformed a declining waterfront building into a shining beacon of hope and prosperity.
Elliot Robertson, chief operating officer at Robertson, said: “To win two major awards and be highly commended in another category is testament to the incredible people within our business who are doing fantastic work each and every day.
“We are immeasurably proud of our work at The Macallan and Spanish City, two genuinely iconic projects. They were successful because of our commitment to working closely with our customers and partners to get the right result – an approach we take with all projects, regardless of size or scale. Outstanding service and amazing teams are the cornerstone of our business and I am so proud to see that recognised at such a prestigious awards ceremony.”
