Robertson wins £16m Aberdeen school deal
Aberdeen City Council has appointed Robertson Construction to build a new £16 million school in the west of the city.
Designed by Scott Brownrigg, the 500-place primary school at Milltimber will be a single-storey building with space for 434 primary and 60 nursery pupils.
It will include 14 classrooms and an activity area, as well as an all-weather 3G synthetic sports pitch.
The new building will replace the growing suburb’s existing facility, which only has room for 270 pupils.
A new site within the Oldfold Farm development has been earmarked for its replacement.
In a document submitted alongside plans for the school, architects Scott Brownrigg said: “The design of pocket spaces respects the need for personal space and caters for the different spaces and opportunities children need for social interaction. There would also be a range of new outdoor spaces for youngsters to engage with nature and areas for quiet play. These offer a stillness and calm, making use of colour, texture and seasonal planting.”
Also on the project team are QS Faithful & Gould, structural engineer Fairhurst, services engineer TUV SUD and landscape designer Wardell Armstrong.
