Rosyth set for £85 million school development

Fife councillors have backed plans to build the £85 million replacement Inverkeithing High School in Rosyth.

Fife Council’s education and children’s services sub-committee voted to back the recommendation from education officers, The Courier reports.

The alternative to Rosyth was land north of the A921 in Inverkeithing, but officers said the Rosyth site presented better value for money.

Committee chairperson Fay Sinclair said: “I don’t think any of us underestimate the impact this decision will have but hopefully this will prove beneficial to many, many young people over not just the next few decades, not just years.”

The use of the Rosyth site is still subject to acquisition of the land, which is partly owned by the Ministry of Defence, as well as public consultation and planning consent.
