Rowan Timber Supplies rebrands as Woodrow Timber & Supplies
Rowan Timber Supplies has announced it will officially rebrand to Woodrow Timber & Supplies after 40 years of supplying central Scotland’s construction trade.
The company said the new name pays tribute to Rowan Timber Supplies’ heritage, retaining the letters ROW and combining them with what the company is best known for: wood. The addition of an ampersand reflects the updated selection of non-timber building supplies that customers can also access through the three-branch network.
To celebrate the rebrand, customer orders over £100 made during November at one of the company’s branches in Airdrie, Ayr and Dunfermline will be entered into a draw to win £1,000 of building supplies. Woodrow Timber & Supplies jumpers, beanies and measuring tapes will also be given away to customers in the branches over the first week of the rebrand.
The move follows the sale of the wider Rowan Group to James Donaldson Group earlier this year, where the existing management team committed to rebranding Rowan Timber Supplies. It will see refreshed branding at the company’s three branches and on transport, new uniforms for staff and an updated online presence.
It also comes after a successful few months post-lockdown for the business which benefitted from an increased demand for home and garden improvements.
Commercial director, Jim Macdonald, said: “The heart of our business has been always in timber and we are proud to retain some of Rowan Timber’s heritage in our new name. Timber is still the majority of our business and we are still the first port of call for many when it comes to quality wood and sheet products.
“At the same time, we have to recognise that for many years now, we have been much more than just timber – our customers have increasingly been coming to us for building supplies too and our new name reflects that updated offering to the trade and public.
“As Woodrow Timber & Supplies, we look forward to providing the Scottish construction industry with the timber and building supplies they need, with the same great customer service and standard of product that they have always known from us.”
Rowan Timber Supplies was started in 1979 by managing director Nick Higgins and financial director Gerry Begley. They were joined in 1985 by commercial director Jim Macdonald and from there grew the business into the Rowan Group, including Rowan Manufacturing, Fabro and Optima Kitchens. Rowan Timber Supplies and its three branches in Airdrie, Ayr and Dunfermline was retained by the three directors when the rest of the Rowan Group was sold to the James Donaldson Group in February 2020.
