Savills appoints Jamie Kelman to Earth and Infrastructure teams

Jamie Kelman has joined Savills as an associate in its Earth and Infrastructure teams.

Based in Savills’ Edinburgh office, Jamie will advise landowners, developers and investors on site identification, project structuring and the negotiation of commercial terms in connection with solar, hydro, wind and other clean energy projects, as well as large-scale infrastructure projects across the United Kingdom.

Prior to joining Savills, Jamie trained as a solicitor in the commercial real estate team at boutique Edinburgh law firm Dickson Minto WS. He latterly practised as a real estate solicitor at CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang LLP.

As a solicitor, Jamie advised clients on renewable energy projects as well as advising investors on the purchase, sale and asset management of traditional commercial real estate assets.

Jamie said: “I have always had an interest in the commercial side of deals that I have been involved in and I have been particularly drawn to working in the clean energy sector. As renewable energy becomes a mainstream investment class and more “traditional” real estate investors turn to onsite generation for retail, logistics, office and mixed-use developments, there is a greater need to advise on the link between the technical feasibility of renewable energy, the commercial considerations and the property element. I am hoping to capitalise on my legal background in order to contribute to the high quality consultancy advice that Savills is renowned for.”

Nick Green, Savills head of energy said: “It is an exciting time for the energy and infrastructure sectors and we are delighted to welcome Jamie to the fast growing Savills Earth team. Jamie’s background and skill set brings another dimension to the advice that we provide to clients across the UK energy and infrastructure sector.”

Guy Russell, Savills head of infrastructure added “Jamie’s experience of transmission agreements for renewables is already proving a great addition to our existing consenting teams delivering for our developer clients around Scotland.”
