Scape Homes is preparing to submit plans to Aberdeenshire Council by the end of the month for a long-vacant site bound by Wallace Wynd and Cowgate.

Working with planning consultant Scott Hobbs Planning and architect Yeoman McAllister, Scape wants to deliver an L-shaped building with 59 beds on the first three levels and a roof garden and communal area on the top level. Leisure areas could include a bar for residents, a gym to help them remain active, a cinema and a private dining room.

A consultation website explains that the proposed design has been carefully considered to respect the height of neighbouring buildings.

A spokesman from Scape Homes said: “The care home is being designed to provide very high standards in en-suite rooms and facilities to enable the highest quality care.

“There will be dedicated parking spaces within the care home land which will meet the needs of staff and visitors with no overspill required.

“The home will also create jobs for local people with ease of access through walking and public transport.”

He added: “The cafe, roof garden and visual outlook from the carefully set back fourth floor will be a real strength for the elderly residents who will be spending the last years of their lives at their care home.”

A planning application is expected by the end of the month.
