Scotia Architectural Systems to close down

Scotia Windows and Doors has taken the decision to unwind its operations in Alva, Scotia Architectural Systems, after ten years of service to the architectural glazing market.

The company said the commercial decision will allow it to concentrate on its core business elsewhere.

A statement on the Scotia Architectural Systems website read: “The focus for Scotia Architectural Systems will now be entirely upon completing all outstanding obligations and orders.

“During the wind down process, the office and showroom in Alva will be fully manned and will operate as normal, within office hours.

“After the wind down is complete, the division will cease to operate and all warranty and service obligations will be upheld by Scotia Windows and Doors, which continues to operate from Kilmarnock.

“Should you have any questions or queries in relation to this statement please contact 0808 129 2089.”

Taking to LinkedIn following the news, Scotia Architectural Systems director Mark McLean said he acknowledged the announcement “with a heavy heart”.

He added: “For the past 9/10 years, my team at Scotia Architectural Systems has worked on some of the best and most challenging projects throughout Scotland and the UK, and together, we’ve won awards and have been recognized as one of the best Architectural Glazing companies in the UK.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank staff members past and present for their hard work, dedication and most importantly, the friendships and laughs that we have shared along the way…… it’s been one of the hardest, but most exciting journeys I’ve been on in my professional career to date.

“Scotia Windows and Doors have provided a fantastic support network to myself and the staff at Alva, through some very challenging times, from when the company was based out of the back bedroom of my house, to when we moved into our state-of-the-art showroom in Alva, and have themselves gone through great growth and restructuring of late.

“Which is why, there is now a need for a change in direction for myself, and for Scotia to continue on its current path, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Scotia for their support and backing over the past few years.”

Mark McLean said he plans a new venture which will “aim to push the boundaries of what’s possible in the industry, and approach architectural glazing & Passivhaus from a new direction, working alongside, and in partnership with Europe’s biggest, and best manufacturers”.
