Founded in 1895, the Scottish Building Federation is the leading employers’ federation for the construction industry in Scotland with membership comprising hundreds of building companies located throughout Scotland, from Orkney to the Borders.

Panel members for the hustings event will include Annabel Goldie for the Scottish Conservatives, Jackie Baillie for Scottish Labour, Patrick Harvie for the Scottish Greens, Jim Eadie for the SNP, Carole Ford for the Scottish Liberal Democrats and the debate will be chaired by Bill Jameson, former executive editor of the Scotsman.

The hustings is free to attend and open to anyone working in or with an interest in the Scottish construction industry. Each panel member will get the opportunity to make an opening statement before opening the debate to questions from the floor.

Scottish Building Federation managing director, Vaughan Hart, said: “There have been many policy changes that have taken place over the term of the last Scottish Parliament with a direct impact on the industry and there are likely to be more over the next five years.

“We wanted to give everyone in the industry a chance to debate the key issues affecting our industry with the main political parties running for election.

“The event will be run in a Question Time style format and will feature leading spokespeople from each of the political parties. We’re looking forward to some challenging questions and lively debate.

“The hustings is open to everyone, free to attend and I would encourage anyone who has an interest in construction to take advantage of this unique opportunity to debate the issues.”

Times for the event are as follows:

11.30 am - Delegates begin to arrive

12 pm - Networking buffet lunch in the exhibition area

1 pm - Start of hustings in main conference room

2.30 pm - Hustings conclude – further networking opportunity in the exhibition area

3.30 pm - Event concludes / SBF Annual General Meeting
