Scottish companies join major grounds equipment framework
Scotland Excel has just launched two multi-million pound frameworks that will support Scottish councils in delivering their essential construction and transport services.
The grounds and plant equipment framework has been awarded to 32 UK-based suppliers – 24 of which are Scottish - and is expected to be worth £32 million over its four-year term.
The security services and cash collection framework has been awarded to 18 UK suppliers – seven of which are Scottish - and it is estimated to be worth £70m over its four-year term.
The grounds and plant equipment framework will help councils and Scotland Excel’s associate members source grounds maintenance equipment and light and heavy plant. This includes ride-on equipment, handheld items, towed equipment, tractors and pedestrian sweepers, and equipment for road surfacing, lifting, and excavation.
Councillor John Shaw, convener of Scotland Excel said: “I welcome the award of these two frameworks which will help councils across the country source the range of grounds and plant equipment and security services they need to deliver their day-to-day grounds and transport services, as well as their construction projects.
“Being awarded a place on these frameworks is a great opportunity for the suppliers, who now have a chance to secure a share of the business over the duration of the frameworks. It’s good news that of the 50 UK suppliers to be awarded places on both frameworks, 31 are Scottish, including many SMEs.
“These frameworks are also good for the public sector as they can be used by Scotland Excel’s associate members, as well as councils – and this includes many Scottish housing associations. Our team has carried out robust procurement processes for both frameworks, meaning councils and our members now have ready to use contracts and easy access to a wide range of suppliers.”
The frameworks have fixed pricing for 12 months. All suppliers awarded onto the frameworks are based in the UK and are committed to delivering community benefits throughout the lifetime of the frameworks.
Of the grounds and plant framework’s 32 suppliers - 29 are SMEs. Two of these are Scottish micros and one is a Scottish sole trader.
