Senior appointments to deliver £12m new contracts at Bancon Construction

Bancon Construction has strengthened its management team with senior appointments to deliver new contracts valued at £12 million and to drive further growth.

The construction division of Aberdeenshire-based Bancon Group has secured building work for major projects for a car dealership and global energy operator Total E&P UK.

Led by managing director Gavin Currie, the new team includes commercial director Mark Dunlop and construction director Colin Mercer.



The contract with Total is for the refurbishment of its subsea building at Arnhall Business Park in Westhill.

Mark Dunlop brings 28 years’ experience in the construction industry, having worked across civil engineering, housing, retail, commercial and hotel projects. He was previously commercial manager for the Aberdeen Sports Village construction project. His new role includes overseeing the commercial aspects of all projects to ensure clients’ expectations are met.

Colin Mercer has a wide range of building experience, including civil engineering, waste water treatment plants, housing, retail, commercial and hotel construction. He was construction manager for Morrison’s £22m abattoir project as well as project managing construction of the global headquarters of First Bus in Aberdeen. As construction director, he will oversee all Bancon Construction projects.

In addition to these appointments, Bancon Construction has also introduced a new graduate programme to bring new talent into the business in a structured way which provides on-the-job mentoring and coaching to accelerate learning. Bancon currently has three graduates in their surveying and construction teams.

Bancon Construction, based at Burnett House in Banchory is part of the Bancon Group with turnover of £60m, around 230 employees and a 40-year history.



The firm provides construction services from maintenance and specialist works through to major multi-million pound projects. Its clients include healthcare, leisure and hotel, education, retail, commercial, industrial and residential property organisations, as well as central and local government.
