Sharkey wins Edinburgh Gin design and build contract
Edinburgh Gin has selected Sharkey to construct its new distillery centre in the capital.
The multi-million design and build project, for renowned Scottish distiller Ian Macleod Ltd, involves the creation of a new distillery and visitor centre for its premium brand.
In a prominent location at the junction of Cranston Street and East Market Street, the centre will comprise a three-storey new build, designed in a subtle blend of modern and traditional materials. The building will be constructed immediately in front of and will incorporate as a key functional design element, five existing listed Victorian arches and will be topped by a wrap-round roof terrace.
A spokesperson at Sharkey said: “We are delighted to be involved in supporting the continuing growth of this exciting Scottish brand and look forward very much to working with IMD and their design team to create a stunning new addition to this burgeoning area on the edge of the Old Town.”
Staran Architects and Contagious are leading the design of the new premises with input from various specialist designers including Rankin Fraser, Rybka and Etive Consulting. Axiom Project Services is providing project management and quantity surveying services for the development.
