The Scottish Green Energy Supply Chain Awards has unveiled its shortlist for Scotland’s biggest celebration of the renewable energy supply chain.

The awards, organised by trade body Scottish Renewables, celebrate the people, businesses and organisations at the heart of the industry who make possible the deployment of billion-pound renewable energy projects.

Some examples from the shortlist include:

  • Forth Ports - one of the largest port operators in the UK has been shortlisted in the category Green Business Growth.
  • Verlume – the energy management and energy storage technology experts have been nominated in three categories: Green Business Growth, Outstanding SME and Technology & Business Innovation.
  • Hydrasun – an international provider of hydrogen solutions, based in Glasgow and Aberdeen, is up for the Green Energy Skills Award.
  • Green Volt - a joint venture between Flotation Energy and Vårgrønn to develop Europe’s first commercial scale floating offshore windfarm, off the north-east coast of Scotland, has been shortlisted in the Supply Chain Development category.
  • Apollo - an engineering and energy advisory consultancy specialising in hydrogen, carbon capture, offshore renewables, nuclear, and oil and gas is a finalist in the Outstanding SME category.

The Scottish Green Energy Supply Chain Awards, headline sponsored by TotalEnergies, will see 44 businesses, organisations and projects contest prizes across nine categories at a prestigious awards ceremony in Aberdeen on August 22.

Emma Harrick, head of energy transition and supply chain at Scottish Renewables, said: “Celebrating the people and organisations who are transferring their skills to help shape the future of our industry in Scotland is incredibly important to Scottish Renewables.

“As we stand at the forefront of a vibrant renewable energy future, much of the success we have achieved so far can be credited to the diverse mix of supply chain companies delivering the specialist products and services needed to achieve our green energy ambitions.

“The Scottish Green Energy Supply Chain Awards are here to champion Scotland’s growing supplier network. It is clear from the shortlist - this year’s event is going to be a showcase of the innovation, skills and engineering know-how that the supply chain is bringing to the wind, solar, marine, hydro and hydrogen projects being delivered across the globe, and I look forward to joining them in celebrating these achievements in August.”

Nicolas Payer, UK country chair of TotalEnergies, said: “We are very pleased to be sponsoring The Scottish Green Energy Supply Chain Awards 2024.

“A competitive, strong and supported supply chain with the experience, energy and ideas to really drive the energy transition in the UK is critical to the success of our renewable energy sector.

“This event is a great opportunity to showcase the work being done across the industry to set ourselves up for success and we look forward to once again sharing a stage with Scotland’s energy supply chain champions on the night.”
