Sidey and apprentice earn awards recognition

Sidey Solutions has been shortlisted for multiple prestigious awards, celebrating both individual and company-wide achievements.

Fenestration installation modern apprentice Billy Bagnall has been named a Finalist for the Modern Apprentice of the Year (SCQF Level 5) award at this year’s Scottish Apprenticeship Awards.

This prestigious recognition highlights the dedication and hard work of Modern Apprentices achieving qualifications at SCQF Level 5.

Reflecting on his achievement, Billy acknowledged: “I wasn’t good at school and my behaviour was poor.”

However, choosing to start an apprenticeship proved to be life-changing.

“My apprenticeship has given me better opportunities in life. I have a new direction,” he explained.

Billy joined Perth fenestration specialist Sidey Solutions in 2023 after re-engaging with education and studying joinery at Perth College. His outstanding craftsmanship and dedication have led him to complete finishes on high-value conservatories — an achievement typically reserved for more experienced professionals.

In addition to Billy’s incredible recognition, Sidey Solutions has been shortlisted for two prestigious awards at the Edinburgh Chamber Business Awards:

    • Large Business of the Year
    • Developing Young Workforce

A spokesperson for Sidey said: “These nominations underscore our commitment to excellence, innovation, and nurturing young talent within our workforce. We are incredibly proud of our team’s dedication and passion, which have been instrumental in reaching this milestone.”

Sidey has also been named a Finalist for the SME Employer of the Year award at the Scottish Apprenticeship Awards, further solidifying its commitment to apprenticeship programs and fostering growth and development within its team.

The spokesperson added: “A massive congratulations to Billy and everyone at Sidey for these outstanding accomplishments! We look forward to celebrating these successes at the upcoming award ceremonies and continuing to champion the next generation of skilled professionals.”
