Sidey apprentices fly the training academy nest
Fenestration specialist Sidey celebrated five of its apprentice installers flying the Sidey Training Academy nest last week to become qualified employed fenestration installers.
Within the Sidey Training Academy, apprentices work towards a level 5 SCQF through vocational training over a 12-18 month period.
Sidey’s community benefits manager, Donna Montgomery said – “As vans are collected, kitted out and driven away it’s a proud moment for everyone involved and an opportunity to reflect on what we have achieved so far. A 100% success rate and 0% attrition.”
In tandem, a bespoke milestones training plan clearly sets out the competencies required to fulfil the role, against which apprentices are assessed monthly, provided with constructive feedback and goals to work towards.
Donna added: “In addition, Apprentices act as ambassadors for Sidey, visiting schools, colleges & attending careers fairs. They also participate in Police Scotland’s Young Driver Road Safety Awareness session.
“Sidey’s training academy extends beyond the physical space created next door to our Perth showroom, it encompasses the resources invested every single day in coaching, mentoring, and training our apprentices to become exceptional members of our team. It is also an integral part of Sidey’s growth.”
James, one of Sidey’s qualified apprentices, said: “I was really excited to be taken on by Sidey as an apprentice and look forward to where the rest of this journey takes me.”
